Hello, folks out there in NETLAND! I have built a LUCAS board from the kit that I bought from Brad Fowles in Canada. I have checked out all of my solder connections, board traces, and handywork and am still unable to get the board to work! I am able to load most of kickstart and then the computer faithfully bombs at the same spot in the boot sequence. I have no idea what is happining when it bombs, so I am not sure what to check. Hopefully, there is someone out there that has had (and solved 8-) a problem like this: I have been able to reliably boot the kickstart with a 7474 in the "magic" chip socket, with a 10, 12, 16 and 20Mhz xtal. (well, kinda) The computer starts loading the kickstart disk, plays its jingle, and then goes to check the genlock device for input. At this point, the screen goes dark, dim, brighter............and then nothing!! The CPU appears to be running cycles (according to my logic probe) but nothing more happens no longer how long I leave the computer on. Furthermore, out of deparation, I did the PIXAR hack that syncs to C1-C4 state that the Amiga uses for systemtiming. I have also tried disabling the 68881 as suggested for systems without the 68881. I also lengthened the *AS signal, as recommended for some memory boards. Finally, I tried every variety (and manufacturer 8-) of the 74xx74!! If anyone out there has had a similar problem, please send email to my address. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanx in advance!! ------------------------------------------------------------- jcmiller@hydra.unm.edu "There are two types of people in the world--fast and hungry" ------------------------------------------------------------
