A friend and I have just purchased Amy 500's and we are wondering about the expansion possibilities. (i) Memory He's a hardware person and I'm more software. He took one look at the 512K ram expansion and declared 'I can do that'. Looking at the schematics it seemed that you could decode up to 8M from the underside 'trapdoor' slot (or whatever its called). Is this correct?? Has anyone built a home-brew memory card for this expansions slot?? If they have could they pass on any hints and tips? He has access to a professional CAD-PCB board design system at his work place, and intends to design the PCB using that. Has anyone got a net-list file for an Amy RAM board that they could mail? (ii) Drives I've got an 80 track D-Sided 5 1/4" drive I used with my BBC. I'd like to hook it up as a drive for MSDOS discs. A couple of questions (a) is this drive suitable? (b) do I need to run it from the Amy's power supply (i.e. from the disc expansion port). (NB the drive already has a built in power supply, but perhaps there is some reason why I need to power the drive from the Amy) Thats all .... for now. Thanks in advance !!
