[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Problems with CMI VI-500RF Video Encoder and A3000.

I decided to test out my video encoder and titling
software with my new A3000 last night and ran into a small
(Ha!) problem. I own the CMI VI500RF video encoder. I
initially hooked it to the 23-pin normal video connector
(15.75 KHz, I think) next to the 15 pin one on the back
of the A3000. I then took the composite signal out to
my A2002 RGB monitor. I got NO signal to the monitor.
Unfortunately, the CMI and the connector to my A1950
cannot be plugged in simultaneously due to space problems
(is there any way to get an "extender cord for the 15 pin
out to go between the 1950 and the A3000?), so I could not
monitor the output simultaneously with the 1950. I then
tried the separate chroma and luma outputs, to no avail.
(I tried every combination of swith settings in the 2002
and 3000 (e.g. Comp/SEP/RGB on the 2002, Disp. Enh. ON/OFF
on the A3000) with no positive results. Then I took the
encoder off the computer and plugged in the cable from
my 2002 DIRECTLY into the 23-pin port. THIS WORKS, so
I am definitely getting signal from the 23-pin port of
my A3000. (BTW, this is a great way to see the visual
effects of the display enhancer. Have a 2002 (or other
standard Amiga monitor, 1084, 1080, etc.) hooked up to
the 23-pin out and the 1950 hooked up to the 15-pin out.
Load up any IFF lo-res image with the display enhancer
OFF. Both images look ~ the same. Now flip on the
display enhancer. What a difference.

Any suggestions as to why the CMI video encoder
does not work with the A3000 would be appreciated. Also,
I know that someone bought out CMI. Does anyone have
the name, address, and phone # of this company???

Thanks,

Scott Sutherland
