[I posted on this once before, but I think esunix fed it to the lineater.] For about two weeks now I've had an A3000 and a Sony CPD-1302 multiscan monitor. The Sony is beautiful, the colors are far brighter and more vivid than the old NEC Multisync (the original model) or the A1080. But I've got a swimming noise pattern in the image. It is horizontal bars about 1/8" to 1/4" apart, that swim vertically up or down the screen. The direction and speed of the swim varies with the intensity setting on the Sony. The noise is present both with the Display Enhancer enabled and disabled. Any ideas what's causing this, and how to cure it? I tend to suspect poor grounding/shielding in the video cable. The place I bought it from threw in a "free" cable, so it's probably the cheapest thing on earth. So before I home-brew a cable out of coax, is there anything else to check? If the video noise can be corrected, I'd strongly recommend the Sony over any other monitor I've seen hooked to the Amiga, including the old NEC Multisync, the CBM A1950, and the NEC 3D. The colors are incredible, and the centering and size adjustment pots on the back have enough range to come within 1/8" of the sides of the CRT, and can run off the top & bottom of the CRT. This is far more overscan adjustment than my old NEC has. If you're willing to open it up, you could probably get more overscanning on the sides. (But my warranty isn't up for a long time, and I don't have a service manual, so someone else will have to try it.) -- Blaine Gardner @ Evans & Sutherland 580 Arapeen Drive, SLC, Utah 84108 blgardne@esunix.UUCP {decwrl, utah-cs}!esunix!blgardne DoD #0046 The Borg killed Laura Palmer!
