HELP:, I have a problem with my stock A2500/20 and the 40 MB "pergodion" (or so) drive. Whenever I leave the computer on for more than a couple of hours, my hard disk won't start. I mean that a.) I switch on the A2500. b.) I can hear the drive go click ... ,click ... ,click ... ,click. Then it gives up. c.) The drive does not start (I normally can hear when the motor is on) and the system hangs. The same thing happens when I just connect the power to the hard disk. Up to now I could solve the problem by switching the machine on a couple of times. Last time I took out the 68020 board and the hard disk controller. Once I got the drive motor on, the drive would work fine until I had it on for more than 6 hours the next time. All data would be still intact. This time all this doesn't help. I read news about Seagate drives that have problems starting. Maybe I have the same problem, although I have a different drive. My question is: What do you do to make the motor turn again. The irony in the whole story is that I wanted to switch on my machine to do a backup, because I had done a lot of work lately. Thanks, Jacky Baltes. I mean that I thought I jump in too, since I have experienced similar problems recently. I have a A2000 with 68000, 3 meg memory and a Rodime 43meg drive, 2090A controller. The previous day I experienced that upon turning on my system, the harddrive just clicked, clicked,.... but, did not spin up as is usual after the first click. The harddisk refused to boot several times, I opened up the Amiga jiggled and pressed connections, then it decided to boot, but I did not notice any obvious problem source. After it started working, I used the system and during a copy command the harddisk had a clicking-fit and shut down, the Amiga system stayed up with no gurun. So I am considering the possibility of lose/bad power wire to the drive? Same fiddle process again yielded good results and it works for now... Sound familiar? No data corruption has occurred yet...
