Some of you guys over there must be experts on handshaking protocols and null modems, so here comes a question for you: Exactly what does 7wire handshaking protocol mean? What's the difference between that and RTS/CTS? I have a null modem cable that I use to connect Amiga and Sun (using DNet of course, thanks Matt :-) but so far option -P2 which Matt calls '7wire protocol' desn't work for me. Recently I saw 7wire being mentioned in another context, but unfortunately I can't remember where right now... My n-m goes like this (pin numbers on the 25-pin D-subs) 1-1, 2-3, 3-2, 4&8-5, 5-4&8, 6-20, 7-7, 20-6 Is this wrong for 7wire? If so, what's the correct wiring? I asked Matt about this, but he didn't specify things in his answer enough for me to understand, and I don't want to bother him again. I'm in a bit of a hurry here, so please if you know about these things email me on the spot! Mike -- Michael Bergman Internet: d88-mbe@sm.luth.se // Undergrad. Comp. Eng.
