[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 2630 MEM EXP

terry.smallwood@canremote.uucp (TERRY SMALLWOOD) (07/25/90)

Attention anyone at C= CATS group (Dave Haynie should answer this one).
I for one am very curious as to whether or not C= has forgotten about
the 2630 board - ie. where's the wonderful 32 bit wide expansion board
that was dangled in front of our noses oh so many moons ago ??
Remember : "and it will be able to handle up to 64 Mb" ??
So Dave, what ever became or said beast ??
Please reply to the general 'ALL' forum as a specific reply will
probably not reach me.
Thanks for any hope you can give us.

Commodore has never announced plans to build such a board. Very simply, I
put the capability in for such a thing because it was reasonably easy to do.
It's up to Commodore or one of the 3rd parties to build such a thing, just
like any other expansion board.

If Commodore wants it as a product, it would be technically very easy to do.
Perhaps you all can convince them. If not, maybe a 3rd party company will
build one, there certainly were a couple of them interested in this. Such a
product may not produce enough volume for Commodore to consider, but might
be just the thing for a smaller operation. Certainly GVP has sold a number
of 32 bit DRAM daughterboards for their 68030 board.
