[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] A1010 Extra 34-pin Connector...

greg@walt.cc.utexas.edu (Greg Harp) (08/11/90)

I was digging through my external drive the other day, (I'm getting ready to
mount my 500 in an AT case) and I noticed an extra 34-pin IDC connector on the
little board in the back? What is the purpose of this extra connector?
Could I plug another drive into it?

BTW, I just want to confirm what I have been told: I _can_ use a PC-style
double-density 3 1/2 inch drive, can't I? Both my internal and external
appear to have the same connectors, etc., that your everyday IBM drives
have. (Excepting, of course, the positioning of the eject button :-) )

Will I have to make sure I get a drive with a disk-inserted sensor? (i.e.
Are there drives without these sensors that I should avoid?)

Email on this would be appreciated, unless this subject has yet to be discussed
and you think it would benefit many people....

Thanks!

greg...
