I have a problem with a Rev 4.3 mother board which had been sitting gathering dust for about 8 months. Prior to that time it had been running in a fairly dirty environment until the Pacific Peripherals Overdrive controller died and made my former boss throw up his hands in despair and give up on the concept of using an Amiga at all as a data collection and experimental control device. Oh well. He recently gave me the machine (he told me to give it to a worthy charity) and a friend of mine who is interested in packet radio and his wife, who might start using it for more artistic endeavors (she is a fine artist) were also asking me about getting a computer cheap. So the rehabilitation began: first I found that the overdrive controller was indeed bad. It would not work on my machine either. Then while installing the GVP 2000 +8 controller which we got to replace the Overdrive, the system started throwing up task held requestors. I then decided that it was time to make sure that the board was squeaky clean and proceeded to thoroughly rinse it in deionized water and dry it with compressed air and some time in a negative dryer (that wasn't my idea but it worked very well). When we rebuilt the system (by the way it also has the Commodore 2M memory expansion board - it was a real power system when we bought it in 1987 - the 2000HD hadn't even been introduced yet!) everything worked fine except for the battery backed clock. Setclock load (or save for that matter) just responds that it can't find it. My question is what's next? How do I approach fixing the clock. The battery is still holding its charge (I checked it with a voltmeter). Other than that we have about 16 Hours of consecutive running time without a crash so I think that I'm on the right track. Any theories as to how the bath crashed the clock? Charlie -- Charlie Fineberg Dept. Biochemistry, Wash. U.
