Just to continue with my problem with my Amiga having a delay on powering up once I turn it on... I have an Amiga 500 with a Trumpcard and a seagate drive. The problem: I turn on the power switch and it take about 45-60 seconds before the power indicator lights come on and the system comes alive. Some have suggested that the hard drive may be configured as other than SCSI device 0, or that spin up time on the seagate may be the problem. I tried disconnecting the trump card andjust the Amiga 500 by itself had the same power on delay. Some have suggested a simple damaged power supply, however one person suggested that the IVS trumpcard SHOULD NOT be operated off the A500 bus without an external power supply. They say that the seagate and the trumpcard pull too much power from the A500 power supply and that is what has damaged my power supply. Now, the IVS docs claim its OK to use the trumpcard without external power, but they may be wrong or they may not know the power requirements of the hard drive. Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on my ongoing power on delay and especially on wether the IVS trumpcard should have or needs to have an external power supply. -- Mark E. I've been operating a TrumpCard500/Quantum 40Mb combo off the 500 PSU for 8 months without a problem. I know what they say, but it was my impres- sion that the cautions really kicked in when you loaded the TrumpCard with a full complement of RAM (that really draws the power). Incidentally, I've also got 2Mb of RAM with their "low-power" RAM card in there (for the last 2-3 months), no problems. It's not that I'm foolhardy, but I lug this setup around to performances and I really don't want extra boxes if I can avoid them. (robert@f24.n125.z1.fidonet.ORG)
