I have an Amiga 500 and a 20MB Supradrive 500XP which I'm having problems with, and wondered if anyone had seen anything similar. The machine boots from the hard drive fine, and in the course of working with it occasionally the drive powers itself down, then in a few seconds powers itself back up. This can be particularly devastating if you have to be saving a file from an editor. There is no real pattern to when if will decide to power down, sometimes it will go for an hour and be fine, sometimes it will do this 3 or 4 times in a 10 minute span. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Jamii jamii@edsr.eds.com or ....uunet!edsr!jamii

Sounds like the +5V is real close to the lower voltage limit for the
drive. Each time it drops below the minimum that the drive requires, the drive
does a shutdown. Replacing your power supply with something a little beefier
or adding a seperate power supply for the 500XP would be one solution. I've
never been comfortable with powering a HD off the 500's expansion bus..
: Thanks,
