[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] 2090a and my Syquest SQ555...making it *NOT* autoboot.

gutierre@NSIPO.NASA.GOV (09/06/90)

I have a 2090a controller and a Syquest 44meg harddisk. In booting
up, the 2090a attempts to read the Syquest after the internal Quantum
is read. After booting up, I get an icon for drive "DH2:", but
there's nothing there.

I will assume the 2090a sees the Syquest on boot-up, and attempts to
find an OFS partition on the Syquest, and assigns an icon for it.

In order to disable the autobooting of the Syquest, do I flip a switch
on the 2090a, or move the drive to another unit assignment (it's unit
0 now), like 1,2,3,etc...

Thanks.

Write something into the first two cylinders, where prep
stores rigid disk block & file system. It is easy with an RESx
device and RFD-handler. (Any pointers to one are appreciated.)
I personally use whole disk (except first cylinder) for data.
Here is my mountlist.device (at the end..): Quantum is device
0, SyQuest is device 1. (A jumper between 'A' pins, second
from right. There is PE C B A x jumpers (from left to right)
	if I reckon correctly.)

BTW should 2090A boot from a Quantum P105? I get always the
WB-hand when I first turn the machine on. Should I connect
some jumper? Documentation that came with 2092 is next to
nothing. ;( Besides it is in German. (Ich heisse Deutsch ;)
	(Es ist ein Witze))
