What exactly is a frame buffer? What exactly is a frame grabber? What would you call a card that gives the Amiga graphics capabilities equivalent to those it already has, except with 24 bits/pixel? The Macintosh has the Display Card 8*24, which provides a 640x480 24bits/pixel graphics screen. It lists at $899, but is being sold at the Wash U computer store for $599. There is also the 8*24 GC (I assume GC stands for graphics coprocessor) for $1999 list, to be sold for $1350 at the campus store. I don't like Macs; in fact I have an Amiga 3000 on the way via the Ed. Disc. Plan. Are there (or will there soon be) graphics card for the Amiga comparable to or better than those for the Mac, and about how much do (will) they cost? Thanks, AMC

What exactly is a frame buffer? What would you call a card that gave you the same capabilities as the on-board chip set, but with 24 bits per pixel? What are the capabilities of the 8*24 GC video card for the Mac (which will list at just under $2000 when it's released), and what is or will soon be available for the Amiga which can compete with (or beat) it? I've overextended myself by buying an A3000 (which should be arriving in 1-4 weeks), and it will be a while before I can afford any add-ons anyway, but I'm curious and tend to shop far in advance (I chose the 3000 2 years ago!) Thanks! AMC
