One option is to use an actual 68000 CPU. Just take over the bus (somehow :-)) and then the 68000 can access any cards in the system (as well as the motherboard, of course). Last time I checked, the 68000 cost about $5 in quantity (plus the cost of any RAMs/EPROMs, and glue needed). Despite this, the hardware guru(s) I've consulted say it's cheaper to use a MC68450, unless your card needs a dedicated CPU anyway (although C= violated this quaint little rule by using a 4502, grumble grumble :-)) -- Dan Babcock > Vance Chin > {uunet, ucbvax}!unisoft!bdt!bms

Hello. I was wondering what the proper mask value is for the mask parameter in HDToolBox. Also, if I change it, will I have to re-partition or reformat the Hard Drive? Does it matter how much and what type of memory I have? I heard that 3000's were shipped out with the HD DMA'ing to 16-bit RAM. Would someone (from Commodore maybe) post a memory map or complete instructions on how to do this? Then it could be put in the monthly c.s.a.[t] postings. Thanks in advance, Aaron Hightower.
