Hello out there. I'm just about to purchase a pair of the x-specs 3D. I'd like to find some technical specifications on these specs. I program graphics extensively on the Amiga, and I have two questions about these specs: 1) Where can I obtain technical information about the specs that would allow me to program for them. I mean specific details such as kind of signals, which bus and/or registers are being affected and software codes sent to the specs. 2) Can anyone send me a list of software which supports these specs: games, animation packages, whatever. Somebody mentioned Digipaint3, but I have a hard time seeing how it could. Thanks for any info, ruze veenu@mtfmi.att.com -or- vrr@cbnewsj.att.com Please email the information to me directly. I will summarize if there's any interest. Thanks very much.

For all those who tried to contact me email for information: I couldn't get in touch directly so here is the information for the developer's kit from Haitex for the X-Specs 3D. The kit can be purchased from: Haitex Resources, Inc. P.O. Box 20609 Charleston, SC 29413-0609 It comes with manual, docs and disk. Send check or money order for $49.95 plus shipping, or for credit card orders, call Haitex: (803) 881-7518 BBS: (803) 881-7522 The kit contains an assembly language library for use from C programs and sample source. There is also a (different) PD library available from CompuServe or GEnie - I don't know how to get it, but anyone who can mail it to me will be thanked! Also, additional specs for the kit (without adaptor) can be purchased for $49.95. All the above information is from Haitex where I called today and had a representative give me the info. The phone number has been changed from the one printed on earlier versions of the manual (mine had a 215 area code number which had been disconnected!). Thanks very much to all who replied. I couldn't have contacted them without the phone number! Email or post any additional info. Ruze

I looked at the spex today in a store. They're pretty cute, but there was a severe flicker (at least for me, I have a high sensitivity to it anyway). I want to hook them up to my PC and do some hacking. They plug in to the joystick port. Does anyone know exactly what the port does to the display circuit. I'd assume it just does a +5/0V square wave, but the Amiga joystick port does a lot more than the PC joysticks or parallel ports do. Has anyone run a 'scope on the joystick signals and figured out exactly it works? Thanks, Lance Norskog thinman@cup.portal.com

Well, I just called up the bulletin board at Haitex, read everything, and have enclosed the interesting stuff. They have a few cute images and a space blasters game. I got a pretty severe jitter on a 500. I don't know my Amigas, so I don't know what the refresh rate is. This was not marked copyright or trade secret. I have no connection with these people, and have no notion of their size, solvency, adherence to the civil rights/discrimation laws, or anything else. Enjoy! X - S P E C S 3 D STEREOSCOPIC GLASSES HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS Description The X-Specs 3D glasses contain two liquid crystal optical modulators, one for each eye. They have two optical states: one light transmitting, one light blocking. By operating them out of phase, stereoscopic image pairs can be viewed field sequentially. The drive signals (25v p-p @ 500 Hz) are supplied by the driver interface which has been adapted to the Amiga computer. Using X- Specs compatible software, sync signals are generated for the driver interface by the computer to trigger left and right images. X-Specs Driver interface INPUT Supply: +5V @ 33 mAmps supplied by computer control port pin #7. Ground supplied by computer control port pin #8.
