I am having a problem with high resolution screens on my Amiga 500, and am not quite sure what to make of it. It appears that the interlace just quits working. One minute the high-res screen will look fine (i.e. all the characters and things are solid), then the screen will kind of jitter a little bit and every other line on the screen will go away leaving these very narrow lines that (I think) are the background color. Then after a few more minutes the screen will jitter again and everything is back to normal. This wouldn't bother me except that when it is in every other line mode everthing looks very blurred and fuzzy. I would greatly appreciate any insight anyone can give me regarding this problem. A while back my system began doing the same thing (2000, Sony CPD1310). Then one day I happenned to be fooling around with one of those PAL boot utilities that came across the net. To stabilize the screen when swiching back and forth from PAL to NTSC required adjusting the vertical hold control. I noticed that by moving the control just a little bit, I could produce/clear up an effect just like you describe. So, try fiddling with the vertical hold. See? I told you it was silly... :-) /* Rick Plavnicky ...!sun!cup.portal.com!plav -or- plav@cup.portal.com */
