I switched on my Amiga 2000 on Saturday night and there was a loud BANG and a bright blue/white flash. Oh Dear! I checked the rectifier and dead short accross the AC inputs. This little beasty was rated at 2 amps. I replaced it with a 6 Amp and put a new fuse in and all is now well. What is likely to have caused the rectifier to overheat ? it was correctly heatsunk and the fan is working fine. Is it just on the limit of its rating ? The fuse in the supply is a 5A antisurge. This machine is 11 months old.
