I've heard of people mention an "Adaptec SCSI to ST 506" adapter or connector. I have 2 Seagate ST-251 drives that i would like to connnect to a new GVP SCSI controller. Can someone who has this information please let me knnow where I can find this adapter. I saw a few in computer shopper but some had a ST506/407 on the end of the name so I don't know which one to get. Will I be able to hook both of my hard drive to the connector? Thank you ahead of time for any and all help.

The difference is the latter is RLL encoding {%50 percent more storage for supported drives}. Hope this helps... srm -- Scott R. The Adaptec 4000-series of SCSI-to-ST506 adapters is what you're seeking.
The 4000A adapts one or two ST506 drives (e.g. your ST251) to a SCSI bus, and
the 4070 adapts one or two "2,7 RLL" rated drives (such as an ST277R) to a
SCSI bus.
Before my ST251 drives went belly-up due to stiction, they were operating
just nicely using a 4000A on the Amiga's SCSI bus. The largest drives I
tried with the 4000A were the Maxtor XT2140 and XT2190 and they, too, worked
fine on the Amiga SCSI bus.
Since all my drives are now embedded-SCSI, I have several 4000A cards for
which I have no further use. The cards bolt right onto the back of every
"ST506" drive I've ever seen, so installation is quite simple assuming you
have a reasonably-sized HD box.
If you're still interested, send email and perhaps we can work out a deal on a
4000A. If you want to buy a brand-new 4000A, you'll have to contact Weird
Stuff Warehouse in Milpitas, CA (on Sycamore Drive; sorry, no phone number
handy; call 408/555-1212 and ask for their number).

It's cheaper, handles up to four ST-506 drives (or two ESDI) and does a bit better job in SCSI I implementation. (Disconnect/reconnect support for one...) The ACB-4000A and ACB-4070 are better supported by the Amiga SCSI controller manufacturers though. -- -Bill Seymour billsey@agora ***** American People/Link Amiga Zone Hardware Specialist NES*BILL ***** Bejed, Inc.
