From: Dale.Amon@CMU-RI-FAS I would appreciate it if someone at Los Alamos would comment on the theory behind an experiment they are reported to be in progress on. The report was in the 6/10 Space Calendar, and states that they are going to look for antigravity effects on antiprotons. The antiprotons will be cooled to near absolute zero and slowly bled into a test chamber where they will be examined for subtle gravitational effects. Is this related to supersymmetry theories, or is it just thought the a time reversed particle should show a time reversed reaction to a gravitational field (why I wouldn't pretend to guess). I guess I'm really asking, do you guys have a good reason for thinking there might REALLY be such an effect, or is it a "What the hell, try it and see what happens" type of experiment?
