[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Hard Drives for the A3000

scott@stsci.EDU (Jim Scott) (10/20/90)

Hi Folk -

I want to buy a hard disk for my A3000 and have a few
questions.

1) What drives have A3000 owners bought, installed and
used with a MINIMUM of hassel, connecting, formating,
partitioning, etc. etc. etc. ? I am looking for something
in the 50-100 Meg region, but possibly more.

2) As I understand it, I can use the bay next to DF0:
to put in the hard disk. Will the hard disk look
lice in it? I.E., is the floppydrive slot open and you
peek into the guts of the A3000, or do the harddrives
come with faceplates and a blinking LED like the DH0:
(WORK:) that comes from the factory?

3) Do I need to buy JUST a drive, or drive + handler or
something? Or will the A3000 SCSI take care of it all?

Sorry for the ignorance. It's my first computer, first
Amiga, and first (well, second, if you count DH0:)
  hard drive!

Thanks,
Jim Scott
