Hello, everyone. I am a novice Amiga 500 owner, and I have a couple of
hardware-related questions; let me apologise in advance if I am requesting
reiteration of some commonly-answered questions, since the volume of this group
is too high for me to keep up with expiration and also get any work done. (!)
I am looking into getting a hard drive for my 500, since I've gotten just a
bit tired of using a two-floppy system, and I dread using X or trying to do
serious programming or typesetting with such a mass storage system. So what
options are there for A500 owners? I hope/trust that there is a SCSI controller
available, since SCSI disk options are pretty broad.
The other thing I'm seeking for my 500 is essentially a kit for recasing it
as a true box, rather than the current Apple ][/Atari 800/Atari ST casing that
looks amateurish and is a real deskspace waster. Ideally, I'd like a heavy-duty
case that I can put the monitor on, ideally with room for two floppies and even
(hoping beyond reason) a detached keyboard. Also, on a recently-advertised A500
sale article (naturally long since expired :(), there was mention of what
sounded like an expansion casing for the A500, called a Trumpcard Enclosure or
some such, which sounded like it combined recasing with the addition of A2000
expansion slots.
If you have some information, please E-mail me at one of the addresses below,
as I haven't got enough time to keep up with all the Amiga news these days.

Well you have several options for the A500 hard drive. I know several
people who have had only good things to say about the A500 TrumpCard SCSI
harddrive system
As for the box... I wish I had a detatchable keyboard also. That
enclosure you described is simply a box that covers the back ports on the A500
and serves as a monitor stand, if it the same one I saw in a magazine.
