I recently upgraded my system to include the 1MB Agnus chip. My question is this: When I run the PALBOOT utility to change over to the PAL screen display, the system does not behave as expected. I have seen other users with PALBOOTable systems go into PAL mode, and the machine resets itself and comes up with a 256 line display at the normal video height. (ie:the Workbench disk requestor is flattened somewhat). However, on my 1084D, the image simply seems to shift upward about 20-30 lines. The imput does seem to have changed sync because there is a slight "shimmering" of the screen like I have seen with other 1084(A/B/C) PAL users. Do I actually need to switch to an OLDER model 1084? Programs that detect for PAL mode seem to think the Amiga is in PAL mode. So now, even though I can see the bottom of a PAL screen, the top is cut off. I am trying to locate the problem. It is: 1) Incorrect installation (and jumper cutting) for the Fatter Agnus 2) A problem with the way thew 1084D handles PAL sync 3) Incompatabilities cause by other things (Baseboard, Hard Drive) 4) Problems with the PALBOOT utility (ie: older version) Put this one in your "Help-me-Amiga-Hardware-Guru" file. ---- Robert Huebner huebner@aerospace.aero.org The Aerospace Corporation ----
