Well, I ran that Joy Stick test program that Dave Haynie posted a few days back (thanks Dave!) and got some interesting results: When there's a Digital joystick in Port 0, or NOTHING in Port 0, I get a CONTINUOUS Left signal. When the Mouse is plugged into Port 0, the Left signal appears very intermittantly (as I would expect) when the Mouse is moved. Those of you who don't recognize this might want to try using a Mouse on something that expects a Digital joystick... In a nutshell, something is definitely bad in my Port 0, but Port 1 is OK, and the computer is still functional... So my question is: What is the MOUSE doing that could make that otherwise continuous Left signal disappear? And is this information sufficient to figure out exactly what is fried, or am I really going to have to go to a dealer to get a definitive diagnosis? Unfortunately, someone is borrowing my hardware manual, so I have to ask for ALL of this info. :-( Any help is greatly appreciated! -- Matt *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* % "I programmed three days % Beam me up, Scotty. % % And heard no human voices. % There's no Artificial % % But the hard disk sang." % Intelligence down here. % % -- Yoshiko % % E-mail: mrush@cscihp.ecst.csuchico.edu % *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* This is a SCHOOL!
