[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] using a 1581 for files transfers and as a possible 2nd Drive

JBK4@psuvm.psu.edu (11/19/90)

I would like to know how I can hook up my 1581 to my Amiga for transferring fil
es and if I can use my 1581 as another Amiga Drive how do I do that? Also is t
here a program available that will allow me to read/write files to and from dis
ks formatted on a 1581 using my internal Amiga drive?
Please send responses via E-Mail. Thanks

I used a 1581 an a 2nd internal drive for my Amiga 2500.

I had to play with the little jumpers to get it addressed
correctly, but then it worked fine.

As far as I know, there is no way to use it as an external drive.

As far as transfering files between a 64 (or 128) and the amiga
using 1581 disks.....

One way to do that would be to write IBM formatted disks on the
64/128, using the Big Blue Reader software. Then read them on
the Amiga with CrossDos or MSH.

Big Blue Reader and CrossDos are comercial programs.

Good Luck!
