[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Bridgeboard on A3000

don@brahms.udel.edu (Donald R Lloyd) (11/27/90)

I've borrowed & may buy a used XT bridgeboard from a friend. I have a
3000, so I can't connect the internal 5.25" drive from his 2000. How would
I go about setting this thing up? I know I can create a 'fake' DOS disk on
my HD, but I have to be able to actually boot the bridgeboard & run Fdisk
to do so....
Any ideas on how to go about setting this thing up? How about getting
a floppy hooked up? (I know I can plug a drive b: into the back, but what
about a drive a:?) Any other tricks I should know about getting it to
work under 2.0? I saw something about turning off the I-cache before
running binddrivers (can I re-enable it afterwards?)
Right now I have the Amiga side of a 2-meg fake partition ready to go
(sitting inside a 'real' 2 meg partition that used to be called WB_1.3:
:-). When I run PCMono (w/out running PCDisk first), I get a "ad drive a:"
message. When I run PCDisk & then PCMono, I get a "Could not open autoboot
file." PCColor seems to only open the screen & menus & give me a cursor,
but I get no communication with the bridgeboard. Neither seems to want to
go to interlace when I select that option.

Has anyone had any experience with Bridge Drive commander, which
apparently lets you use your Amiga drives as PC drives? Has it been
tested on a 3000?

Also, how can the 5.25 drive that came with the bridgeboard be plugged
into his 2000 to be used as an Amiga drive?

    Thanks!
