[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Mistsubishi Diamond Scan

n350bq@tamuts.tamu.edu (Duane Fields) (11/27/90)

I have an Amiga 3000 and a Mistubishi 1381 Diamond Scan. When
I hook it to the 31 khz port with the cable included with the
monitor I have probs... I have about a 1.5 inch boarder on all
sides of the display. Tweaking does little to fix this. Thinking
maybe the monitor was mal-adjusted I hooked an IBM (cga) to the
15khz port and it worked great, over-scanning and plenty of
tweaking room. I hooked a 1084 to the 15khz port and it worked
nice and dandy. Is there a way to adjust the image size?? Is there
a possible problem with my 31khz port?? (I have no vga system to
test it on) Any Ideas?? This is really getting to p*ss me off!!
Please offer ANY suggestions you have...

This may be due to the fact that the Diamond Scan is expecting a VGA
style video output at 31.5Khz and as such the apect ratios of active
video between the NTSC or PAL de-interlaced output vs the VGA output is
different and may be giving you this border. This is more of a problem
with the MicroWay FlickerFixer (TM) because of the way the FF outputs
the amount of active video and the display enhancer (A3000 or A2320)
will output much more active video (overscan). For example, on several
of the older NEC monitors there was a large black border around the
screen display when used with the FF but when used with the display
enhancer, was almost behind the monitor's bezel. In short, there is
nothing wrong with the 31Khz port, the monitor just appears to not have
enough adjustment range for the sizing controls for the type of input
that it is receiving.
