I have a brand new Conner CP3200 SCSI 200 meg hard drive and I have been having problems formatting the drive using a Hardframe controller. First the setup: A2000 rev 6 motherboard Hardframe controller with latest ROM and software (version 1.9) Supra memory board with 6 megs of memory. Before I bought the COnner drive, I had 2 Quantum 40 meg drives and a Syquest 44 meg removable drive working with no problems. Everything works flawlessly. Now I install the Conner drive and run the Hardframe software and partition the drive. No problem so far. (I know how to do this. I am sure that I have not made any mistakes so far). Now I reboot the machine and try to format the partitions using the following format command: format drive dh0: name Workbench FFS I get a formatting error. It does not even format 1 cylinder. Same for all partitions. Same problem if I make 1 212 meg partition on the drive. Now, if I format the drive using the quick option as in: format drive dh0: name Workbench ffs quick It initializes the drive ok and the drive is usable. However, I am a little uneasy about not being able to properly format the drive just one time. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Has anyone used this same drive on either a Com. 2091 controller on on a GVP series II controller. Replacing the controller at this point is a lot cheaper that replacing the drive. Thanks for any information. Everything still works fine with the Quantum drives and the Syquest drive. -- |******************************|*****************|********************| | Daniel A.
