First of all, thanks to those who responded regarded video projection using Commodore Amiga. The number of replied I recieved was pretty light, considering the suitability of the hardware for this task, but I assume the demographics of internet are somewhere skewed toward the scientific. Although I recieved some valuable information regard the Sharp product, I was not able to contact anyone actually using the thing with an Amiga. Therefore I am unable to say for certain if there are any unexpected incompatabilities: SharpVision XV-100TGP Ceiling Mount, matte black with NTSC composite and S-VHS (Y-C) inputs. This is the industrial model, I believe, and the price is about $4700. It uses three LCD screens (RGB) and high intensity metal-hallide lamp for intense images in low light situations. The total number of pixels is 89,505 per color or 268,515 total. The projected image does not require that you set convergence (whew!) as the convergence is all internallized. There is a remote control for adjusting the image from 20" to 100" diagonal. Pixel resolution is listed at 382.5 x 234, which seems a bit low for S-VHS. This might be the reason for the screen-like effect. There are controls for brightness, contrast, tint, etc. The brightness of the screen at 40" (for those than can decypher such statistics) is listed as 220ft-L. After seeing the unit first-hand, I though the picture intensity could pass for a tube-TV (seemed much more intense than other projection systems I've seen), although there is a visible "screen" effect when viewed closely. I would recommend you view the unit before any purchases to see if this will be a problem for you application. Again, I'd like to hear from someone who actually set this configuration up. Other recommendations I recieve through Email: In-Focus 5000CX color LCD panel. This is the old "put it on top of the overhead projector" type product. Sounds nice. Says it has 4913 colors but probably achieves this by shading 512 colors. 640X480 resolution with a good aspect ratio (true to screen). Does not, however, run on an NTSC signal so a flicker-fixer or A2420 would be in order. Again, I recieved this recommendation from a PeeCee owner who wanted to know more about the Sharp system for his Amiga. Has anyone with a VGA-rate output used this item? Retail price is about $5995. Again, I wish I had more responses to summarize, but it seems to multimedia crowd isn't in tune to usenet yet. ----- Robert Huebner huebner@aerospace.aero.org The Aerospace Corporation Computer Security, Secure Systems Div. -----
