Is the 2024 currently available? What is the price? Where can I get one?
A "local dealer" is out of the question.

Is it true that the only open slot needed is the video slot on the 2x00?

As far as I know, the 2024 should be readily available from any Amiga
dealer. I haven't heard of anything about them being in short supply... So
pretty much any place that sells Amiga hardware could get it for you. (Don't
know if JC Pennys or Sears or ... can get them though...)

You don't need to have an open slot at all to use the 2024. It
plugs right into the regular 23 pin video port. The Moniterm Monitor
needs to use the video slot though, they have the special 'Hedley'
hardware external to the monitor. You will need 2.0 to easily use the
high res modes of the 2024 though.

I just spoke to Betsy Gombarick, a Commodore representative for the Educational Sales
program. She indicates that they have no idea when the 2024 will be available. Some
early orders were filled, but the monitors had problems and they are waiting until they
can get a new supplier to deliver them. She said they had no idea when they expected
to fill the outstanding orders. While they are willing to give refunds, that doesn't
help people who ordered under the Educational Purchase plan, since it will then cost
more when those people try to order the monitor without a CPU at some later time.
