[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] GVP 3001 information wanted

RIDOUT@ddnvx1.afwl.af.mil (12/17/90)

I have been thinking of getting one of the GVP 3001 setups and I have several
questions.
1) I herd that the 50MHZ version is just a 33MHZ over driven. Is this true?
and if so what are the problems? Will the CPU get to hot and die sooner?
Is it reliable?
2) I would also like to get one of the Quantum disks with it. From the
picture in AmigaWorld it looks like the disk mounts in one of the 3.5in drive
bays. Can it go anywhere else? I don't want to give up my two flopies.
3) The memory that goes into the board, is it called 1x8 meg simm. Or do I
need to get somthing else. I see that those at 80ns are 58 dollars. Can I get
the 3001 setup unpopulated and buy memory some where else to save money.
4) Are there any gotchas I need to know about before ordering. Do I need to
specify autobooting, and what is theis FastRom thingie thay are advertising.

Any comments would be appreciated

thanks
Brian

No, not true. It's real 50 MHz MPUs, FPUs etc.

Yes. Mine are located outside the Amiga's case, for example.

GVP's number is 1-215-337-8770.
