[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Questions Concerning A2410.

Now that Commodore has at least started releasing some information
about the A2410 (except for the most critical piece of information: the
price), I have some questions concerning it.

First, are updates to the Janus software being worked on, for release
at the same time as the release of the A2410, that will allow emulation of
Super VGA video on machines with both the A2410 and a BridgeCard? I
am hoping that such an update for the Janus software is already done,
as this would provide another use for the A2410 for something else other
than just as a video card for UNIX.

Lastly, I would still like to see a kind of HAM mode implemented on the
A2410, either through hardware, software, or both. If Commodore is not
innovative enough to do it, hopefully some Amiga hardware developer is.
Ever since it was announced several years ago that Commodore had bought
this product from the University of Lowell, I couldn't help feeling that
8-bit video was, for the Amiga, a giant step backward, even if it was at
a higher resolution. Implementing a 10-bitplane HAM mode on this
product would radically improve the color capabilities of this device.
Right now, I can't help feeling that this product is more like an IBM
or MAC video card shoved into an Amiga, than a true Amiga video card.
Implementing a HAM mode on this thing would make it much more of an
Amiga product than it is now.
