[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] HELP..2090 controller, SupraRAM 2000 Incompatible???

Classic_-_Concepts@cup.portal.com (12/23/90)

Posting this for a friend.

            System:
Amiga 2000 with fatter Agnus and 20 meg ST-225 hard drive
2090 (not the 2090A) hard drive controller
Just purchased 2 meg SupraRAM 2000

The problem is that the hard drive works without the RAM, the RAM works
without the hard drive, but they don't seem to want to work together.

Doesn't seem to matter which slots they're in or in which order, the
symptoms are the same, as follows:

As soon as the BINDDRIVERS command comes up in the startup file the
hard drive tries to read, acts like it's doing a repeated seek, then fails
and you get a NODOS error. This did not occur before installing RAM board
and does not occur if the RAM board is removed again. It does occur if the
RAM board is installed in any of the slots, whether on the left or right of
the controller card.

RAM card works fine and all the memory tests out fine if the system is
booted from any floppy.

No history of problems with the controller card, and it works fine agai
if the RAM card is removed.

MOUNT does not work subsequent to the BINDDRIVERS command failing, at
least not for the hard drive device.

Any ideas, suggestions, known problems or incompatibilities? I'd really
like to help him get up and running, 'cause then I'll get to use the machine
sometimes too (smile). Thanks in advance.
