[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Negative SCSI tracks?

  Help!

I just got ahold of a Seagate ST-225n HD that was previously in use
on a MAC. The drive works great as long as I don't mind it looking like
SCSI device 6 (which I do, because I would like to auto-boot and the
Xetec controller won't use that device for auto-booting and it will wait
for a 30 second time out for each prior device that isn't connected).

Now, I'm not stupid (at least I don't think so) and I have tried playing
with the device select jumpers on the drive, but to no avail. After
talking to the folks at Seagate, I have learned that there are "negative"
tracks on SCSI drives that hold information for the drive including the
device number that overrides the external jumper settings.

FINALLY, the question......How in hell do I change this info???? (sorry,
just becoming frustrated again). If there is a program that do these
changes for me, I would REALLY appreciate someone UUENCODEing it to me in
mail, or at least point me in the right direction.

A thousand thanx, (and a couple hundred airplanthes)
