[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Setting up autoboot partition

rnelson@eecs.wsu.edu (Roger Nelson - Grad Student) (01/14/91)

------

After my seventh disk validation error in three months, I have decided to
setup a backup partition on my HD. (I really hope 2.0 fixes this bug).

I have an ST506 type HD on a 2090a controller and have partitioned it
as follows:

RES0: cyls 0-1
DH0: cyls 2-365
DH1: cyls 366-1023

I think it was originally partition as follows (The mountlist I had
didn't have DH3: listed.):

RES0: cyls 0-1
DH0: cyls 15-1023
DH3: cyls 2-14 (boot partition)

The partitions format OK, but the HD no longer autoboots. It is my
understanding that the boot partition must use the old filesystem.
How do you specify that the file system is the old file system in the
mount list. (The partion doesn't seem to mount without specifying
the filesystem parameter).
What else do you have to specify in the mount list to indicate
a boot partition? I tried the INSTALL command, but it appears to only
install floppies.

I would like DH0: to be the boot partition.

Is it possible to specify more partitions? I can't seem to mount any
more partitions.
