I have an Amiga 500 with an A590 HD chassy. On it is the original Western Digital 20 meg IDE (cough, gag.. but hadda come with it). I was given for christmas by a good friend a Seagate 40meg SCSI NiceAndFast drive. I grabbed an old IBM power supply, and a SCSI ribbon cable, opened my a590 and 'tached her up. Works beautifully, and reads *extremely* fast. Makes my disk-anim works acutally ANIMATE. Anyway, the problem: When I have both drives up and running at the same time, some CPU intensive programs *CRASH* badly, with a Guru 00000003, namely Addressing Error. I know it happens when I attach the second drive, due to I replicated the crash, cured, it, and crashed again, as I attached, removed, and attached the drive. Tell me: does having BOTH drives working off the INTERNAL A590 drive connectors (instead of having the SCSI on the *external* 25pin) draw more voltage, or cause any other thing that would make my 500 get "Addressing Errors" and crash while in mid-render? (Specific package: Turbo Silver.) And, if it does: (1) how to cure it? (2) can you *GET* a cable for that 25pin to the pinrack on the back of the SCSI?... and (3) does having an external supply that isn't grounded together with the 500 hurt? _________________________________________ \ Thunder Island - Information Gateway \ \ --------------- \ \ Citadel C86k Net - USENET News Link \ \________________________________________\
