[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Old A1010 and Amiga 3000

user_442@dayton.saic.com (01/14/91)

I have an old Amiga 1010 (External 3.5" drive) that I used on my Amiga 1000 for
five years. However, I got an Amiga 3000 and this drive only works about half
the time on the 3000. Does anyone know of any incompatibilities with the 3000?

I also have another question. How much does the static column memory speed up
the Amiga 3000?

There was a problem at one point, due to reduced overhead in the
trackdisk, a few old A1000/A1010 drives were missing disk insertions/removals.
We think we've fixed it, though I'm not certain the fix was in KS 36.141/143
(the original A3000 release). It's certainly in the current A3000 KS available
from dealers: KS 36.207 ("2.02"). If you're running 2.02 (or later if you're
a developer), and the problem still exists, it would be useful if you could
give more symptoms and the drive manufacturer (which would mean taking it
apart, sorry, but not hard).
