[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] GVP Series II and BridgeBoard Problems?

siannce@polyslo.CalPoly.EDU (Twinkie the Sponge Cake) (01/15/91)

I just recently received received a GVP Series II (with the memory expansion
but it is unpoulated at this time) controller and a 40 Meg Harddrive. Since
I have a 2088 bridge board in my 4.3 B2000 I thought I'd put a partition on
the hard drive for it, since a utility is included on the disk with it I
suspect it's suported. But after I installed the software (Janus 2 I believe.
I bought it used and the person I bought it from told me it was version 2) on
the hard drive to use it, whenever I started the pcwindows I'd get a requester
informing that a library could not be found (Janus didn't tell which library
though.) So I whipped out the boot up disk that I used to boot up the bridge
board before the hard-drive and rebooted the amiga. I received the same
requester. Knowing it worked before the hard-disk I removed it and used the
old boot disk again and the bridge card booted just fine. After I replaced
the hard-drive (with out even binddriving it (I've got 1.2 ROMS not
auto-boot... :-( Anyone got 1.3 ROMS they'd like to sell?)) it was back to
the old can't find library. Anybody else have a problem like this? And if so
how did you correct it?

it would be the janus.library it is looking for. Are you sure you also installed
the janus.library and janus.library.info into your EXPANSION directory of the
hard disk, and also run the program BINDRIVERS in your startup-sequence?

Did you BOOT from this disk, or just use the software from it? I've not yet
heard anything about Bridgeboard/Series II incompatabilities. The only
problems I've had with the Series II drives were A500 controllers on
Ancient revision motherboards for the A500.
