Does Anyone know if there are token ring or apple talk cards available for the amiga? Basically the dorms here at CMU can attach to either (there is 1 dorm with ethernet, but I don't happen to live there so ethernet is useless for me). Any info is appreciated (I definately DONT think that getting a Bridge board and an IBM card is a viable solution). // Rick Golembiewski rg20+@andrew.cmu.edu \\ \\ #include stddisclaimer.h // \\ "I never respected a man who could spell" // \\ -M. From AC's Guide to the Commodore Amiga: "Double Talk - A fully AppleTalk-compatible network system for all Amigas. Allows full networking with Amiga and Macintosh computers. Operates at Double speed on Amiga-only networks. Price (To be Announced) Progressive Peripherals & Software 464 Kalamath St., Denver CO 80204, (303)825-4144" Don't even try to get a Token-Ring card. If you could get one, the technology in Token-Ring networks would make it more expensive than Apple-Talk. -- __ _ ___ ___ Michael Harris - harris@catt.ncsu.edu // _ | / \ | | Computer and Technologies Theme Program // /||\/||/ _ /| |__ / /_\ | | North Carolina State University \X/ /-|| ||\_|/-|

Depends on what you need to do over the network... I know of no
Token Ring cards for the Amiga, but DigiFeX sells an Appletalk card. The
only problem is that they don't have software to allow the Amiga to talk
to a Mac, only a printer of another Amiga, over the AppleTalk port. If
what you're looking for is a connection to the laser printer, or to your
buddy's Amiga, it should be fine. If you need to share a hard disk with
some Mac out there, no good. :-( I use the Appletalk port here at work,
with two Amiga 2000s, a Fujitsu RX series printer and two Mac IIcxs.
No real problems, except a tendancy to crash when trying to print when the
printer is turned off...
