[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] A1000 Hardware Stuff!!!

dsg@cci632.UUCP (David Greenberg) (02/01/91)

	Hey everyone!!! (Including CBM Engineers!!!)

	I have/had an A1000 that I sold to a friend, (I have a 2000 now) he
tried to expand the memory with an IN1000 1.5 meg board.....well, it didn't
work, (he is no techie) so he returned it, and now the A1000 will not boot.
Currently, I have the machine and when you hear the state it is in, we will
all have to bow our heads in a moment of silence!!
The drive is removed, (the drive access light is broken off), it is
possible that the power and data connections were installed backwards, and
the power was turned on.
The 68000 has been removed and re-installed (several times! - probably
backwards too!), as well as the IN1000 being installed (possibly incorrecty)
 and powered on.
And to make matters worse....several screws are missing (some on areas
where grounding is necessary).......

ANYWAY....WHAT'S MY QUESTION you are all saying.....(besides...why
are you bothering with this, and Is your friend an IDIOT?)

Can anyone point me in a direction (Don't say "to the nearest CBM repair
center") to get this thing working again.....

I have access to new 68000 chips and such, but I don't know what else
could be wrong (I realize there could be LOTS of possiblities) but,
can anyone give me a hint about what to check (if anything?)

			Thanks a lot...........Dave
