[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] H.D. help

bro@crib.Amiga.OCUnix.on.ca (D. Wil J. Zolmer) (02/08/91)

I recently added a new CDC 94211-169 (SCSI, 151.6 Mb) hard drive to
my existing Hardframe 2000 and Quantum Pro40S. The Quantum is now in
the middle of the SCSI bus, so I removed the terminating resistors.

Is there some jumper that needs to be changed to tell the Quantum not
to look at the resistors?

When I installed the terminating resistors on the CDC drive (it's at
the end of the SCSI bus), the drive would NOT work. It caused the
activity LED to stay on solidly.

Without the terminating resistors, everything works fine. What are
the possible problems that can be encountered by not terminating the
SCSI bus. Since the 50-pin ribbon cable is only about 18 inches long,
I don't think this will have an adverse effect.

Does anybody know who I can contact (either address or phone number) to
get documentation for the CDC drive? If anybody has a copy, all I need
to know is the orientation that the terminating resistors plug in, and
what the jumpers are for, a quick summary here or my E-mail would be
appreciated.

Thanks 10^6.
