I have received yesterday my GVP disk with 2 Mbytes memory extension. First I could not install it and decide to open it for checking the jumpers. By checking the setting marked inside I was surprised to see that jumpers j2 and j3 were connected together instead of j1 and j2. I decide to move the plastic block and now it seems to work: at least the memory extension is recognized. Now the problem: I cannot AUTOBOOT from the hard disk!!!!! What I tried to do: 1) I always boot with a copy of the GVP installation diskette on the Game switch position. 2) As expain in the user guide I initialize the hard disk in the Autoboot position. 3) Then I used FaaastPrep, Automatic selection, and I tried several cases with 1 partition of 42 Mbytes, 5 partitions of equal sizes, and then after the formatting of dh0a: (why a?? : seems to be part of dh0:) the program asks for a boot tape and here I tried several diskette: GVP diskette, Workbench diskette, and a third one with Cshell and MSH (in the last two cases the GVP diskette had to be moved on df1: before the copy). 4) The partitions seems to be installed (at least I can execute programs from the disk) and all other non installed partitions have the Trashcan. HOWEVER if I try a Ctrl A A in the Autoboot position the disk refuses to boot. I have to restart again from the GVP diskette (Game switch position) and it works (the disk is accessible). Questions: A) How can I modify dh0: to allow an autoboot? B) After the formating of each partition FaaastPrep asks for a boot disk! Can I have several bootable partitions? How can I move from one to another? C) Can I copy a bootable game diskette (Xcopy?) to allow to use it from the disk? The children often used the same game for a certain time period. D) Can I later reformat a single partition? Manual choice? E) What could be recommendation for partition sizes and cache buffer sizes (presumably modifiable with the manual choice) for the first partition and for a partition for large files (Digiview and PPMPlus package). Thanks in advance. However my children (3) are waiting and I will have to prepare a diskette for initializing my non-bootable disk!! I seems I was one of the first receiving this new HW in Switzerland!
