HELP! --- My INTERNAL FLOPPY DRIVE is broken on my AMIGA 500 What is the best way to get a new one? BUT--I would like to try to install the drive myself since REPAIR work costs too much. --My friend has the opportunity to BUY an: AMIGA 500 w/ 1084 monitor, 512k & an external drive, BUT the INTERNAL DRIVE IS BROKEN. HE can buy it for $200- ) Is it worth it...Can the drive be fixed for a minimal price OR is it better to buy a different system? Thanx for the help. ALAN SKVORECZ-

He should be able to get a new drive for under $200.... The drive in the 1010 *may* also fit into the A500 case. The only problem bight be if it is an older 1010 with the fat drives (too thick to fit in the A500). The second problem with this is that the eject button won't stick out far enough to make disk ejection easy. It's best to get a drive produced for the A500 if possible. Installation is easy, open case, remove RF shield, unscrew old drive (3 screws), remove power cable, remove data cable. Install in reverse. -Mike-
