In his last message to me, Jeffrey W Davis states: -- The [1020] drives are all sold/shipped/paid for. RATS!!! I really wanted one. -- Connected to an A1000. The 1020 is the only external drive. If I attempt -- to load kickstart without the 1020 turned ON, it has great difficulty -- reading the kickstart disk. ..... Basically, I have the same problem, unless I have the darn 1020 turned ON or I unplug it from your machine completely. I find this irritating, it means that I have to keep reaching behind the 1020 to turn it ON whenever I reboot my 3000 (ditto on my old 500 and my roommate's 2000) or the rest of the machine is affected. This is irritating, because I only use the 1020 once in a great while for dumb-DOS transfers. I should not have to have the 1020 ON all the time... -- Not having a display without a disk in the drive is odd. I suspect that you -- are using an A500 though and odd things seem to always pop up. The diskdrive -- should not be recognized by the system at all (after kickstart 1.1) unless -- you specifically Mount it. I believe the sole purpose of the circuitry in -- the back of the 1020 is to prevent the drive from autoconfiguring. You'll -- need to let me know a little more about this. What type of Amiga? What is -- it's behavior when booting a stock Workbench disk of 1.2 or higher? I am using the drive on my 3000, but willing to move it to my roommates 2000 if that would work (it has the same problem). Why should I have to mount the drive when the power is off? I do have a manual mount command for both AmigaDOS and for MSDOS (via CrossDos) that I expected to have to use WHEN THE DRIVE IS TURNED ON, but not when it is OFF. I am so confused. Thanks for your help though, thanks a bundle. Anyone else got any ideas? ScottD. (snolan@sysp2.hq.af.mil)
