In search of best mac emulator on amiga, I called Readysoft Inc in canada asking about the AMAX II+. The guy who answered my phone said they will market the AMAX II+ around March or April this year. The price should around $400US. It will work with harddrive and use amiga drive to read mac disk. (he said you don't need mac drive anymore). When I asked about what kind of ROM it will use. He said still 128ROM. Then I mentioned the difficult time to find the ROM. He refer me to call local sale outlet. He seems didn't bother by the news that apple stop selling 128ROM. any comments on this news ? Maji

Ask to speak to the owner if they refuse to sell you Mac roms. Many owners will sell the roms to you even though Apple asks them not to. This is especially true for smaller businesses. In other words, they will sell you the roms as long as they can keep Apple from finding out, so don't give up. Another company is expecting to clone the mac roms for an IBM mac emulator. They may sell those roms on disk. > >Maji David Tiberio SUNY Stony Brook 2-3605 AMIGA Toto Productions D sheriff is on d net. :)

Here are some excerpts from an Inforworld article from a couple of weeks ago: "unlike many other clone efforts, which rely on Apple's Macintosh ROM BIOS for compatibility, Nutek will announce this week a logic chip set and software that will replicate the Macintosh ROMS and systems software.... To avoid infringing on copyrights of Apples's screen displays, Nutek licensed OSF's Motif interface, removing the Unix and X window features.... The technology will be available in the fourth quarter, Chou said. The first computers based on Nutek's technology will not appear for another two or three months, he added... -- hubey@pilot.njin.net | hubey@apollo.montclair.edu | ...!rutgers!pilot!hubey

Just a little info on that in particular. I sure hope those clone ROMs come out soon, because from what I heard (I can't remember where) Apple will not even give DEALERS new ROMs unless a set of damaged ones are returned to them. ..Or maybe I was just hallucinating... :-) >David Tiberio SUNY Stony Brook 2-3605 AMIGA Toto Productions > D sheriff is on d net. :) ////----------------------------------------------------------- Pat //// "Now that you have pulled the pin out of Mr. Grenade, (Spam?)////lipo@macc.wisc.edu he is no longer your friend." ////lipo@wiscmac3.BitNet --Sgt.
