HELP!!!! I just finished talking to the service technician at a local Amiga dealer (HT Electronics), and he explained to me that he can't fix my AT Bridgeboard. Naturally, this raises several questions: 1. Assuming that an Amiga service center doesn't stock the parts to debug and repair AT Bridgeboards, isn't there a way they could, for example, send the Bridgeboard to Commodore for repair or replacement? If so, what would this cost for an AT Bridgeboard? Repair is preferable since it should be cheaper. 2. Are there any "typical" AT Bridgeboard problems? Basically, the problem appears to be in the floppy drive controller circuitry. The board boots fine from the autoboot partition on my Amiga harddisk, but the floppy drive does nothing. I get a Drive 0 Configuration Error. The service center tried my disk drive and cable on another AT Bridgeboard and it worked, so the problem has to be on one or both of the circuit boards. I tend to suspect the drive controller chip (I believe there is a single, socketed chip that performs this function). Is this a good guess, and if so, does anyone know the part number for the chip, where I could order a new one, and how much I should expect to pay? And if you know these things, will you tell me? 3. Does anyone know of any service centers that REPAIR Bridgeboards cheaply? Actually, since it is IBM compatible and the problem is with the floppy cont- roller, a good PC repair place ought to be able to find the problem. Any suggestions? Please reply via e-mail since my news feed is flakey. If there are any requests, I'll post a summary of the responses. -brett |Brett Coon | uunet!smosjc!brett or brettc@portia.stanford.edu | |S-MOS Systems, Inc. | "Very exciting... as a luggage problem." | |San Jose, CA | -Joe Vs.
