[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Amiga Keyboards

rudolpe@jacobs.CS.ORST.EDU (Eric) (03/06/91)

Okay kids, here goes (!) : A while ago a friend of mine and I designed an
interface that allowed one to put an AT keyboard on your Amiga. I got some
replys and before I knew it, my partner got greedy and wigged out. Now I
have redesigned the board and will give out the plans for free (soon to be
released on the internet as freeware) or I will make you a board for a paltry
amount of money (around $20-25) plus shipping. It's extremely simple, takes
three chips, some wire, and a few capacitors. The software is long and
tedious and you will either need a way to get the source code across to
an eprom burner or a way to assemble 8051 code if you don't want me to make
the board for you.

My board is by far the superior of the previous board we made up and will
support both XT/AT keyboards for interface to either a A500/1000/2000.

It includes nice features like "one hand computer reset" and a nice logo
display key. :-)

Let me know if you are interested. I will reply to anyone who writes me.

I forgot to mention on my previous article...
I am waiting on two things before I can release the program for the keyboard
conversion. 1) how does the IBM reset the AT and the XT keyboard?
2) How does the IBM set the lights on and off on the XT and the AT keyboard?
My program works fine without these things, but for esthetics, I would like
to include them. Can anyone try and help me find this information or
direct this inquiry to someone who knows?
(I am, in specific, looking for the codes to send across the clock/data lines...)
Thanks in advance... rudolpe@jacobs.cs.orst.edu 503-745-7466
