Here's my predicament(sp?)... I have an Amiga 2000 and a Thomson 4375M Multisync monitor. I also have an Amigen Genlock (later about this). Anyways, I called Redmond cable to see about getting a cable made. They said "no problem, but it will cost a little more because we have to put a buffer chip in the cable". It'll cost $42 (which is a little more than I wanted to shell out for a cable, I'm not a business, just a poor working slob). So, the big question is what is this "buffer chip" and how would I wire it in myself (and why do I need it)??? I asked about a cable for the AmiGen and they said that would be cheaper since it didn't require the chip... Well, I went ahead and built a cable for the AmiGen to Thompson (easy). It boots up fine (great picture!), and most of the stuff I run is ok... Then I tried out Wings (a game from CinemaWare) and the screen started rolling - well there is no vertical hold for my monitor. The Amigen folks said this was "normal" for alot of games because the programmers are using "nonstandard" timing signals and writing directly to the hardware... Since I don't use the Genlock on a daily basis I would rather wire up a cable from the Amiga to the Thomson, but I'm a little weary because of Redmond cables mention of a "buffer chip". If anyone knows how do deal with this please let me know... -thanks chris -- chris@zork.cc.binghamton.edu Chris Peck chris@bingvaxu.cc.binghamton.edu SUNY Binghamton, NY chris@bingvaxa.bitnet --"Any opinions expressed above are mine, ALL MINE!"--
