Greetings all you Netters, Well, after about a month and a half of f#*king around with this AdIDE controller and Western Digital 3.5" hard drive to get it to work with my A500... IT WORKS!! The problem seemed to be the power supply that I was using. I was using an IBM type supply to power the drive alone while the A500 was beeing powered by it's own standard (cheeeeeezie) supply. Apparently there was some sort of grounding problem because it couldn't have been a power shortage problem (it's a 200watt supply!!). I finally received a new power supply which I ordered from a fellow netter that seemed to solve the problem. And to think, I sent the controller AND hard drive back to ICD and they said it worked fine. How frustrating!! Anyway, it works really great now and it's a pretty fast little setup. And IDE drives are pretty cheap. The 3.5" drives won't fit inside an A500 which is a shame because, unless you cut a slit into the side of your machine, you have to run the ribbon cable out the expansion bus port which isn't too pretty. Another thing I was told by ICD tech support is that I had to ground the drive to the A500's chassis if it's an external drive. Well, I thought everyone would be interested in some info and tips about this product. Any questions are welcome. 'C' ya, Kamran kamran@dialogic.com
