G'Day, I am tossing up whether to buy a Commodore A3070 Tape unit, mainly because the price here in Australia can't be beaten by any other Amiga specific combination. This unit will be used on a A3000 running Kickstart 36.303, Workbench 36.102. What is less than clear is what do I need to use this under AmigaDOS. My contact at the shop where I am purchasing it tells me that the documentation supplied with the unit is *sparse* (to put it mildly :) ), consiting of details about setting SCSI adddresses, Terminators etc. All I want to do is on a weekly basis dump all my partitions to a single tape. I currently have 4 partitions totalling 50 Megabytes. Software possibilities: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ BRU & HDBackup. BTNTape Handler from Fish 392. MWTape from Fish 445 TAR from Fish 445 Which one of these will do the job?? (if any :() John Verhoeven (johnv@DIALiz.oz.au)

I've been told that you can use it with BRU by changing the order of devices in one of its config file, Shift the TAPE to the front of the list. Haven't tried it myself > BTNTape Handler from Fish 392. Bob Rethemeyer has posted a recent version of this to comp.sources.amiga As yet I haven't checked it out, but I will soon. I'm hoping it allows you to mount the TAPE drive using a Sequencial filesystem. That ought to be a bit more useful than just being used as a backup & Restore facility. > MWTape from Fish 445 > TAR from Fish 445 > > Which one of these will do the job??
