[comp.sys.amiga.hardware] Harddisk problem

bosman@fwi.uva.nl (Cor Bosman) (04/10/91)

I,ve got an 65 MB Seagate harddisk on my 500 (1MB + 1 5 1/4 drive).
The problem is that after a while (sometimes 5 min , sometimes a few hours)
the harddisk seems to loose power. It has to restart all over , while the program that's using the harddisk stops with some error message (mostly R/W error)
When the harddisk(not autoboot) has restarted the program continues as normal
(until it happens again).Once the harddisk never even restarted,it just stayed
dead. While the harddisk is doing this the fan just continues (also that time
it stayed dead) . Does anyone know what could be the problem .
Can it be the amiga powersupply(I heard it isn't that good) or the powersupply
of the harddisk or maybe a broken wire or what? Has it got to be a powersupply
(or wire) problem or can it be something else (chip, controller, interface or whatever).. Any comment is greatly appreciated..
